Luna and the Blanket of Night
Once upon a time, in a cozy little town wrapped in hills and stars, there was a kindergartener named Luna.
Luna loved many things: building castles from blocks, singing very loudly during circle time, and hugging her fluffy toy owl named Hoot.
But there was one thing Luna didn’t like at all.
The darkness.
Every night, when Mama kissed her goodnight and turned off the light, Luna’s eyes got as big as saucers.
“What if the dark hides monsters?” she whispered to Hoot.
And Hoot, being a wise owl, just blinked and snuggled closer.
One evening, Mama brought in a small surprise.
It was a glow-in-the-dark star, shaped just like the real ones in the sky.
“We’ll put this on your ceiling,” Mama said. “And I’ll tell you a secret.”
Luna leaned in, curious.
“Darkness isn’t empty. It’s where the stars live.”
“Really?” Luna’s eyes sparkled a little.
“Really,” Mama smiled. “The dark isn’t here to scare you. It’s like a big cozy blanket, tucking everything in — the trees, the houses, even the moon.”
That night, Luna lay in bed and looked up at her glowing star.
She imagined the darkness like a soft navy-blue blanket with silver sparkles — covering the world in sleepy magic.
Suddenly, she heard a giggle from under her bed.
Her heart jumped. “Who’s there?” she whispered.
Out popped a tiny creature with glowing eyes and glittery feet.
“Don’t be scared!” said the creature. “I’m a Night Dot! We only come when kids are brave enough to notice.”
Luna blinked. “A Night Dot?”
“Yes! We help protect dreams. But only when kids stop fearing the darkness. That’s when we can really dance.”
And right before her eyes, dozens of glowing Night Dots peeked from the corners of the room — doing silly dances, flips, and tickle-twirls.
Luna giggled. “You’re funny!”
The smallest Night Dot bowed. “You’re brave.”
From that night on, Luna never feared the dark again. She even told her friends at kindergarten:
“The darkness is where the stars live.
And it’s where the Night Dots come out to play!”
And somewhere, deep in the cozy folds of the blanket of night, the Night Dots giggled and danced, knowing Luna had learned the secret.
